Eye Examinations
- All initial eye examinations are bulk billed to Medicare.
- During the examination our Optometrist will check the health of your eyes and assess your vision. Eye drops are not used. You will be advised if you require glasses or contact lenses. A prescription and the necessary lens type will be determined, taking into account your visual requirements for work and lifestyle. The complete examination takes approximately 30 minutes.
- If required we will test your peripheral vision. This visual field test takes approximately 15 minutes and is also bulk billed to Medicare.
- Our practice also offers retinal imaging for a more thorough health check of your eyes. These images allow the Optometrist to detect earlier stages of eye diseases like macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetes.
- For further treatment of eye conditions we will refer you to an ophthalmologist.
Laser Correction Assessments
At the initial eye examination, if requested we can assess whether you are suitable for laser vision correction. If you are suitable and would like to see an ophthalmologist specialising in refractive surgery we can provide a referral. Our practice will then also provide you with the necessary ‘after care’ following the laser correction procedure.
